[ARCHIVED] Minority Leader DeRiggi-Whitton Votes to Approve $1 Million for District 11 Sewer Infrastructure

(GLEN COVE, N.Y.) – Nassau County Legislature Minority Leader Delia DeRiggi-Whitton (D – Glen Cove) applauded the Monday, June 9 approval of two contracts that will deliver $1 million in additional funding for key sanitary sewer infrastructure project in Glen Cove.

The Rules Committee, of which Minority Leader DeRiggi-Whitton is ranking member, voted unanimously to authorize a $574,344 contract with Island Pump & Tank LLC to replace underground storage tanks at the Cold Spring, Glengarriff and Shore Road pump stations.

The Rules committee also voted to allocate an additional $422,683.45 toward a contract with H2M Engineers for design and professional engineering services for upgrades to the Knott Drive (Glen Head), Morgan Park, Viola Drive (Glen Cove) and Roslyn Village pump stations. The funds will be applied toward replacing a concrete building at Viola Drive; installing new potable water meters at 15 pump stations in Glen Cove, and replacing three pump station bulkheads. The new maximum amount for the contract is now $1,090,083.45.

“These essential investments in our sewer infrastructure serve an absolutely crucial role in our efforts to preserve public health, protect the environment, grow our economy and maintain our quality of life,” Minority. Leader DeRiggi-Whitton said. “I am thankful to my Rules colleagues for voting unanimously to advance these essential upgrades in District 11 and across Nassau County’s north shore.”
