(WOODBURY, N.Y.) – Nassau County Legislature Deputy Minority Leader Arnold W. Drucker (D – Plainview) joined with his colleagues in law enforcement, labor and government on Thursday, Sept. 4 to celebrate the grand opening of the new, state-of-the-art home of the Nassau County Police Department’s Second Precinct. The Precinct’s service area encompasses portions of Bayville, Hicksville, Jericho, Oyster Bay, Plainview, Syosset and Woodbury.

The Second Precinct was rendered “not salvageable” after being badly damaged by fire in November of 2022. In August 2023, Deputy Minority Leader Drucker and the Legislature approved emergency amendments to the 2023-2026 capital budget and authorized a total of $33.575 million in bonding to rebuild; a construction services agreement was approved later that fall to set the project into motion.

“Throughout the entirety of this nearly three-year ordeal, the men and women of the Second Precinct continued to excel in their law enforcement mission despite being suddenly displaced by this unfortunate incident – and for that, I will always be deeply grateful,” Deputy Minority Leader Drucker said. “As a lifelong Plainview resident, the Second Precinct is the only one I have ever known, and I am proud that my Democratic colleagues and I supported the reconstruction of this state-of-the-art law enforcement hub every step of the way.”
