(OLD BETHPAGE, N.Y.) – Nassau County Legislature Deputy Minority Leader Arnold W. Drucker (D – Plainview) joined community leaders and colleagues in Long Island government at the Museum of American Armor on Tuesday, Sept. 2 to mark the 80th anniversary of the Sept. 2, 1945 conclusion of World War II. The event featured leaders of Nassau and Suffolk County; veterans organizations, Dr. Eriko Sato, Executive Director, The Japan Center at Stony Brook, and more paying solemn remembrance.
“As we commemorate this pivotal milestone in the history of the world, we gather to reflect on the peace that brought an end to unimaginable death, suffering and heartache inflicted by the tyranny and evil of the Nazis and the fascist Axis powers,” Deputy Minority Leader Drucker said. “It was especially fitting to pay tribute to this occasion by coming together in a place that honors our veterans and illuminates our singular belief that democracy, as forged by our founding fathers, remains the best form of government. On these occasions, I am especially thankful to Gary Lewi and the entire team at the Museum of American Armor for their commitment to their noble and unifying mission.”
