WHAT – Nassau County Legislature Deputy Minority Leader Arnold W. Drucker (D - Plainview) and New York State are partnering to host a New York State Emergency Preparedness Workshop at the Plainview-Old Bethpage Public Library on Thursday, June 12.
Presented by the State’s Citizens Preparedness Corps, the workshops are designed to equip residents with the tools and resources to prepare for any type of natural or man-made disaster, respond accordingly, and recover as quickly as possible to pre-disaster conditions – especially as severe weather events become more frequent and more extreme. Each family participating will receive a free Citizen Preparedness Corps Response Starter Kit, filled with emergency prep essentials like a radio, flashlight, batteries, freshwater packets, food packs, heavy-duty gloves, tarp, emergency blanket, water container, glow stick and whistle.
“Extreme weather is an ever-present and growing risk to our nation, and Nassau County is no different in how it is being confronted with stronger and more frequent storms because of climate change,” Deputy Minority Leader Drucker said. “That is why Citizens Preparedness Corps workshops are so vitally important, and I encourage you to register today and take advantage of this opportunity to protect your family and give yourself some peace of mind.”
