[ARCHIVED] Drucker Commemorates 75 Years Since World War II’s End at Museum of American Armor Ceremony

Legislator Drucker - World War II 75th Anniversary Ceremony

(OLD BETHPAGE, N.Y.) - Nassau County Legislator Arnold W. Drucker (D - Plainview) commemorated the 75th anniversary of the conclusion of World War II at the Museum of American Armor in Old Bethpage during ceremonies held on Saturday, Aug. 29 to mark the historic milestone. The ceremony, which featured historic armaments and the presence of World War II veterans, was held just prior to the 75th anniversary of Victory over Japan Day (V-J Day). Formal surrender documents that ended World War II were signed aboard the USS Missouri on Sept. 2, 1945.

“Seventy-five years ago, freedom prevailed over tyranny, and the indomitable American spirit conquered oppression and evil - decisively, as one united force,” Legislator Drucker said. “The fight to protect and preserve our freedom bears a price. The incredibly brave men and women that so many refer to as the ‘Greatest Generation’ sacrificed their lives to protect our freedom from threats emerging from every corner of the globe. We must never forget those Americans, who with their lives, cleared the path that the next generation and the generations after that will walk and follow.”
