(MINEOLA, N.Y.) – Earlier today, President Biden signed an executive order that overturns a ban on transgender people serving in America’s armed forces. Following this morning’s action, Nassau County Legislator Arnold W. Drucker (D – Plainview) issued this statement:
“No American should ever be forced to choose between living authentically and fulfilling their desire to serve this nation,” Legislator Drucker said. “Today’s action by the Biden administration ensures that every transgender American who has the abilities and desire to serve our nation has an equal opportunity to enlist in our armed forces. I applaud President Biden for taking such swift action to scrap the previous administration’s offensive, disgusting and nonsensical policy.”
