WHAT – Nassau County Legislator Carrié Solages (D – Valley Stream) is joining forces with Believe at Bellaire Inc. & Go Party on Demand to host a back-to-school community celebration and backpack giveaway at Harold Walker, Jr. Memorial Park in Lakeview on Saturday, Aug. 29.
From noon – 6 p.m. that day, families can pick up backpacks filled with school supplies (while supplies last) and enjoy of hands-on children’s activities, a sensory-friendly room geared toward neurodivergent guests, a pizza-eating contest, cash cube challenge, pony wash/petting zoo, and more. The Nassau County Police Department’s Fifth Precinct and Lakeview Fire Department will also be on hand with interactive experiences, and community organizations and local professionals will be providing an array of services and resources to attendees.
“For families across Nassau County, back-to-school season is an incredibly momentous occasion, but it can be a source of strain for family budgets, especially at a time of economic uncertainty and rising costs,” Legislator Solages said. “That is why the work that is being done by Believe at Bellaire and Go Party on Demand, and all of their sponsors is so incredibly important. I applaud them for their commitment to giving back to the Lakeview community, and I hope to see you at Harold Walker, Jr. Memorial Park on Aug. 29!”
