(UNIONDALE, N.Y.) – In observance of World Mental Health Day, Nassau County Legislator Carrié Solages (D – Valley Stream) joined the Haitian American Family of Long Island (HAFALI) on Saturday, Oct. 10 for their “Carousel of Community Well-Being Summit”. Held at the historic Nunley’s Carousel, which is on permanent display at the Long Island Children’s Museum in Uniondale, the event provided participants with an opportunity to attend a series of workshops geared serving the region’s Caribbean American diaspora.
“During this time of tremendous upheaval, the lived experiences of immigrants from Haiti, the Caribbean and nations around the world have created a critical need for specialized mental health resources,” Legislator Solages said. “I commend the organizers of the Carousel of Community Well-Being for bringing together these expert panels and shining a light on the issues that are impacting lives across Nassau County and throughout our region.”
