(ELMONT, N.Y.) - Nassau County Legislator Carrié Solages (D – Valley Stream) partnered with the Nassau County Police Department’s Fifth Precinct, community leaders, and government colleagues to celebrate National Night Out at St. Boniface Church in Elmont on Tuesday, Aug. 4.
For more than four decades, National Night Out events have been held in thousands of communities on the first Tuesday in August to promote “police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live.” National Night Out enhances relationships between law enforcement and communities by bringing them together with residents in a safe, fun, and welcoming atmosphere.
Spearheaded by the Nassau County Police Department’s Fifth Precinct, the event was supported by an array of community organizations and sponsors. creating a street fair atmosphere across from St. Boniface Church that was replete with giveaways, snacks, activities and demonstrations for all ages. Fellow Nassau County Legislator Cynthia Nuñez (D – Valley Stream) was among the government partners supporting the event.
“National Night Out events, like the one that the Fifth Precinct did a wonderful job coordinating, strengthen bonds between our law enforcement professionals and the communities they serve and protect,” Legislator Solages said. “Responsive, authentic neighborhood policing benefits us all, and I am thankful to everyone who contributed to the success of this hometown celebration of our first responders.”
