Legislator Solages Presents LI Debut Of ‘The Forgotten Occupation – Jim Crow Goes to Haiti’

WHAT – Nassau County Legislator Carrié Solages (D – Valley Stream) is hosting the Long Island debut of “The Forgotten Occupation – Jim Crow Goes to Haiti” – a critically acclaimed documentary focused on Haiti’s brutal occupation by the United States that began 111 years ago – at the Bellmore Playhouse at 7 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 23.

“At a time when the termination of temporary protected status (TPS) for Haitians is dominating headlines across America, it is important to know the full history of America’s interactions with Haiti to have a full understanding of current events,” Legislator Solages said. “I encourage everyone to join us for the Long Island debut of this important work – one that tells the story of an often-overlooked chapter of Haiti’s complex and nuanced history.”
