(BELLMORE, N.Y.) - Nassau County Legislator Carrié Solages (D – Valley Stream) proudly co-hosted the Long Island debut of “The Forgotten Occupation – Jim Crow Goes to Haiti” – a critically acclaimed documentary focused on Haiti’s brutal occupation by the United States that began 111 years ago – at the Bellmore Playhouse at 7 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 23.
“Artists like Alain Martin and Hans Augaustave are truly elevating our culture, and anyone who sees this film will understand that it is no coincidence about why Haiti is in its current condition,” Legislator Solages said. “If you are interested in engaging more with the Haitian diaspora and the truth behind its history, I strongly recommend seeing ‘The Forgotten Occupation,’ and I am looking forward to organizing more screenings of this important work.”
