Legislator Carrié Solages Joins Fiver Foundation Career Panel

(NEW YORK, N.Y.) - Nassau County Legislator Carrié Solages (D – Valley Stream) joined the Fiver Children’s Foundation for a career panel and speed networking session with students in its Summer Job Training Program on Thursday, Aug. 6.

The Summer Job Training Program brings together approximately 30 high school students in grades 9–12 for career readiness and exploration. Legislator Solages and his fellow panelists spoke about their career journeys, reflected on the mentors and decisions that shaped their paths, and introduced youth to the range of roles and opportunities within the justice system.

Fiver is a nonprofit youth development organization that makes a 10-year commitment to young people from systemically under-resourced communities across New York. Through overnight summer camp and year-round programs, Fiver helps young people build the skills, confidence, and relationships they need to create their own positive futures.

“One of the most important things we can do as community leaders is to build the foundation that empowers a new generation of leaders to move the world to a more just, equitable and prosperous place – and the legal system is one of the most powerful avenues for doing just that,” Legislator Solages said. “I greatly appreciate the Fiver Foundation for their efforts and inviting me to be a part of a forum where we can pay it forward to the young leaders who will shape our future.”
