(ELMONT, N.Y.) - To help give students a strong start to the 2026-27 school year, Nassau County Legislator Carrié Solages (D – Valley Stream) partnered with Meera Empowerment, the Elmont Cultural Center, Meera Empowerment, National Grid, Ridgewood Savings Bank, Nothing Bundt Cakes and additional community partners to host a back-to-school giveaway at the Averill Boulevard Park in Elmont on Thursday, Aug. 27.
“Back-to-school season can be an economically challenging time of year for families that are trying to make ends meet, and it is essential for our communities to come together and equip our children to thrive in the classroom,” Legislator Solages said. “I was so grateful to be a part of this event, and the generous support that Meera Empowerment rallied demonstrates the Elmont community’s shared commitment to education and the betterment of our youth.”
