(VALLEY STREAM, N.Y.) – Nassau County Legislator Carrié Solages (D – Valley Stream) is encouraging interested residents to sign up to become members of the Nassau County Auxiliary Police Department.
Since 1950, thousands of men and women have served Nassau County with pride and distinction as members of their local Auxiliary Police Department. Within Legislative District 3, volunteers are being sought from the communities of West Hempstead, Franklin Square, Lakeview, Elmont, Valley Stream, North valley Stream, Malverne Oaks and South Flora Park for service in the 4th Precinct.
All recruits must meet certain requirements, commit to serving at least 13 hours per month, and complete a New York State Peace Officer Training Program at the Nassau County Police Academy.
“Our auxiliary police officers are indispensable partners in achieving a community focused approach to law enforcement that keeps us all safe,” Legislator Solages said. “If you have been seeking an opportunity to give back and get involved, I encourage you to to learn more about how you can be a part of this rewarding public service program!”
