(ELMONT, N.Y.) – Nassau County Legislator Carrié Solages (D – Valley Stream) joined Elmont civic leaders on Wednesday, Sept. 16 as the newly revived Elmont East End Civic Association convened their first meeting at the Elmont Memorial Library. During the meeting, Legislator Solages updated the community on key initiatives, such as the YMCA’s forthcoming $30 million Elmont community center, capital plan resources for critical traffic safety improvements, traffic studies, and beautification initiatives focused on major County roads across Elmont, and more. These resources include funding for a traffic study focused upon Meacham Avenue and more than $200,000 in Community Revitalization Program (CRP) funds for a new playground at the Covert Avenue School.
“I am thrilled that the Elmont East End Civic Association has resumed its advocacy, and I plan to be a regular presence at their monthly community meetings. I am looking forward to working with community leaders to secure the resources that will make the east end of Elmont more vibrant and beautiful than ever before, and I call upon my colleagues in town and state government to join us and become part of the change that Elmont is demanding.”
