(WESTBURY, N.Y.) - Nassau County Legislator Viviana L. Russell (D – Westbury) presented a $150,075 Community Revitalization Program (CRP) grant to leaders of the Incorporated Village of Westbury at the Village’s Recreation Complex on Friday, Oct. 2. Approved by the Legislature on July 27, the funding will support major improvements throughout the complex, including HVAC upgrades, roof repairs, and gutter replacement at the Recreation Center. Additional infrastructure improvements will include new front steps and a replacement walkway at the Senior Center, new steps at the recreation office, a new asphalt walkway connecting the parking lot to Linden Avenue, and new handrails throughout the complex, including along the Senior Center’s south-side ramp.
“We’re deeply appreciative of Legislator Russell’s commitment to making sure that the Village has needed resources to make investments in our facilities and infrastructure,” Westbury Mayor Peter I. Cavallaro said. “This CRP grant will enable us to make improvements at our Community Center and Recreation campus that will make them more accessible and modernized, and upgrade these facilities for our seniors, children and others who attend events or participate in programs there.”
“The Recreation Complex is a true community hub, serving our children, families, seniors, community organizations, and local programs year-round. Investing in these spaces means investing in the quality of life of our community,” Legislator Russell said. “I value the partnership with Mayor Peter Cavallaro and the Village of Westbury, and I look forward to seeing these improvements come to life!”
