(CARLE PLACE, N.Y.) - Nassau County Legislator Viviana L. Russell (D – Westbury) presented a $200,000 Community Revitalization Project (CRP) grant to the Carle Place Union Free School District on Thursday, Sept. 17. The funding, which was approved by the full Legislature on July 27, will support the purchase and installation of new auditorium seating at Rushmore Avenue School, where the auditorium is currently undergoing renovations as part of a capital improvement project approved by district voters in May 2025.
Upon her arrival at the school, Legislator Russell was greeted by young Rushmore scholars, who performed the school song for her on the school’s front steps in a heartwarming scene brimming with gratitude.
“Embracing the arts and music in school curriculum has been shown time and again to benefit students and elevate their performance in core subjects, and collaborative efforts like these will ensure that our schools have platforms for helping our young people thrive in all of their pursuits,” Legislator Russell said. “The warm and enthusiastic welcome from these young scholars truly made my day, and I am looking forward to future partnerships that will help strengthen public education in Carle Place and throughout Nassau County.”
