(BALDWIN, N.Y.) - Nassau County Legislator Scott M. Davis (D – Rockville Centre) secured the unanimous passage of a $150,000 Community Revitalization Project (CRP) grant for the Baldwin Union Free School District on Monday, July 27. The funds will be applied toward installing a new, fully accessible playground at the Brookside Elementary School, which will include age-appropriate climbing structures, slides, interactive play features, shaded seating and gathering areas, and more.
“This grant will allow us to build a modern, fully accessible playground at Brookside Elementary School that promotes inclusive play, physical activity and mental wellness, while providing opportunities for our students to develop essential social-emotional skills,” said Baldwin UFSD Superintendent Anthony Mignella. “Having this new resource will also help strengthen community connections while giving our children a safe, engaging place to thrive. We are incredibly grateful to Legislator Davis and the Nassau County Legislature for their continued support.”
“Not only will modernizing the playground at Brookside Elementary provide Baldwin students with safe and invigorating places to play, explore and interact, it will re-establish this space as a hub where the entire community can gather and strengthen bonds with their neighbors,” Legislator Davis said. “I am thrilled that the Legislature passed this important investment in our youth, and I thank my colleagues in the Democratic delegation for standing with me to ensure the County is meeting the needs of every community.”
