ROOSEVELT, N.Y.) - Nassau County Legislator Scott M. Davis (D – Rockville Centre) secured the unanimous passage of a $40,129.52 Community Revitalization Project (CRP) grant for the Roosevelt Union Free School District on Monday, July 27. The funds will be applied toward the installation of a high-resolution outdoor marquee at the Washington Rose Elementary School, which will replace an outdated model that is no longer functioning.
“This funding represents more than a facilities upgrade; it is an investment in communication, connection, and community pride,” said Roosevelt Superintendent of Schools Dr. Shawn K. Wightman. “Washington Rose Elementary School is an important part of the Roosevelt community, and this new marquee will help ensure that families, students, staff, and residents remain informed, engaged, and connected to the life of the school. We are grateful to Legislator Davis for recognizing the importance of strong school-community communication.”
“Nassau County schools are vibrant community hubs, and contemporary high-tech marquees are a quick and effective way to succinctly share vital information about school events and, when necessary, emergencies impacting the area,” Legislator Davis said. “I am glad that my colleagues voted unanimously to provide these funds to the Roosevelt School District and support their efforts to foster greater community engagement and awareness.”
