(VALLEY STREAM, N.Y.) - To help give local students a strong start to the 2024-25 school year, Nassau County Legislator Carrié Solages (D – Valley Stream) teamed up with the Green Acres Mall and community partners to host a back-to-school giveaway on Saturday, Aug. 31.
Hundreds of students received backpacks during the free event in the mall parking lot, which featured bounce houses, music, and other family-friendly attractions. The event was made possible with support from sponsors including Power 105, JetBlue, Meera Empowerment, United Way, Next Level Planning, Hip-Hop Summit Youth Council, 24Fitness, Safetech, PVE/EDi Engineers and Architects and Dave’s Bounce and Play.
“Every student deserves to have the tools they need to thrive in the classroom, and it is inspiring to see how stakeholders across the Third District are committed to the betterment of our next generation of leaders,” Legislator Solages said. “Thank you to the Green Acres Mall and all our sponsors for making our backpack giveaway a tremendously successful event that brought our community together at the start of a new school year.”
