(ELMONT, N.Y.) – In response to the overflow crowd at his Feb. 13 workshop, Nassau County Legislator Carrié Solages (D – Valley Stream) once again partnered with assessment expert Jeff Gold, a former member of the Nassau County Board of Assessors and a former commissioner of the Assessment Review Commission (ARC), to host his second in-person assessment grievance workshop at the Elmont Memorial Library on Thursday, March 27.
With the April 1 deadline to file a grievance looming, more than 250 people attended the workshop – Legislator Solages’ fourth of the 2025 grievance period – to learn from Gold how to navigate the online grievance process and dispute their assessment.
“After hosting an overflow crowd at our February workshop, we knew that there were still many more people who wanted to learn how to exercise their rights as Nassau County property owners to grieve their assessment,” Legislator Solages said. “The fact that so many people attended these workshops shows just how high our taxes are – and it demonstrates the urgent need to fix our broken assessment system so that homeowners do not feel compelled to do this year after year. I am so thankful to Jeff Gold and the Gold Law Firm for fulfilling their civic duty and stepping up to provide these free workshops across Nassau County.”
