Legislator Solages Announces North Central Avenue Resurfacing Project is Underway in Valley Stream

(VALLEY STREAM, N.Y.) - Following a year and a half of advocacy, Nassau County Legislator Carrié Solages (D - Lawrence) is pleased to announce that the resurfacing of a nearly mile-long span of North Central Avenue in Valley Stream, between Hendrickson Avenue and the Southern State Parkway, is underway.

Preliminary work, which has consisted of light demolition and the construction of ADA-compliant concrete ramps, minor curbing, top decks for draining and a sidewalk incidental to the project, began last week, County officials said. The North Central Avenue project is the centerpiece of an aggressive road-repaving schedule for Valley Stream’s County roads within the Third Legislative District.

“By resurfacing this heavily traveled stretch of North Central Avenue, Nassau County is demonstrating its commitment to meeting the needs of Valley Stream residents and making our roads safer and more accessible for pedestrians and motorists alike,” Legislator Solages said. “I am delighted that this project is underway and am thankful to County Executive Curran and my colleagues in the Legislature for supporting this long-awaited investment in the future of our community.”
