(BALDWIN HARBOR, N.Y.) – Nassau County Legislature Alternate Deputy Minority Leader Debra Mulé (D – Freeport) and Legislator Scott M. Davis (D – Rockville Centre) joined with the Baldwin community on Saturday, June 7 at Baldwin Park for their annual Relay for Life. The Baldwin Relay benefits the American Cancer Society and is part of a nationwide campaign in which more than a quarter million Relayers support the not-for-profit organization’s mission. Since its inception in 1985, Relay for Life has raised more than $6.8 billion in the fight to save lives from cancer.
“Across our nation and in communities like Baldwin and all over Nassau County, Relays for Life do so much to increase critical awareness about cancer and raise essential funds in the fight to put an end to this terrible disease,” Alternate Deputy Minority Leader Mulé said. “Baldwin is once again leading the way in the fight to save lives, and I thank Abby and Miguel Melendez and all of the volunteers for stepping up year after year for such an important cause.”
“As a young person, cancer directly touched my family when we lost my mother to this devastating disease – and it left an indelible mark on all of our hearts,” Legislator Davis said. “I am so grateful to Abby and Miguel and all of the supporters of Baldwin’s Relay for Life for working so tirelessly to save lives and spare others from this suffering.”
