(HEMPSTEAD, N.Y.) – Nassau County Legislator Scott M. Davis (D – Rockville Centre) joined the community at Hofstra University on Tuesday, May 5 to celebrate the winners of the District 4 Congressional Art Competition. Gabriela Guizzo, of South Side High School, was named the winner of a contest featuring dozens of talented artists. She was among a distinguished group of 11 District 1 honorees from Baldwin, Hempstead, Roosevelt, and South Side High Schools.
“The arts serve an essential role in public education, and it is essential for elected officials to use their platform to advocate for programs that so profoundly enrich all of our lives,” Legislator Davis said. “I am so thrilled that Gabriela’s talents have been afforded this spotlight, and I congratulate all of the students from District 1 and beyond who were featured in this showcase for working so diligently to cultivate their talents.”
