(ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y.) – Nassau County Legislator Scott M. Davis (D – Rockville Centre) proudly joined the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Center for the 24th annual West End Community Day on Saturday, Aug. 23. – an end-of-summer celebration featuring vendors, bouncy houses, slides, face painting, live entertainment from Malika Mo & The Bands of Soul, community resources, giveaways and more.
Legislator Davis secured dozens of backpacks and school supplies that were distributed during the event to help local youngsters get a strong start to the 2025-26 school year.
“For nearly a quarter of a century, this wonderful tradition brings our community together to enjoy the waning days of summer and ring in a new school year,” Legislator Davis said. “It’s always great fun to be a part of the West End Community Day, and I know that the backpacks we were able to provide are going to be put to good use in classrooms across Rockville Centre.”
Legislator Davis currently serves as Vice President of the RVC Friends of MLK, a not-for-profit organization which is dedicated to supporting and growing youth, adult, senior, and community programming for Rockville Centre’s Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Center. Since opening in 1971, the Center has developed a schedule of academic, social, and support programs for youth, teens, adults, seniors, and the greater community.
