(HEMPSTEAD, N.Y.) – Nassau County Legislator Scott M. Davis (D – Uniondale) proudly joined the Hempstead community and his colleagues in government at Hofstra University on Monday, Jan. 19 for the community’s 33rd annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day observances. Leaders of Hofstra University, the Incorporated Village of Hempstead, and the greater community marched from Hempstead Village Hall to the Hofstra campus in honor of Dr. King’s legacy and life of service.
“Dr. King’s unwavering moral leadership and commitment to social justice for all is replete with lessons that can guide us in the pursuit of a better and stronger nation – and events like Hofstra University and Hempstead Village’s collaborative observance do a great deal to honor his legacy and empower modern-day advocates,” Legislator Davis said. “Thank you to Hofstra President Dr. Susan Poser, Hempstead Village Mayor Waylyn Hobbs, Jr., Hempstead NAACP President Barbara Powell, and segments all of the performers and presenters who made this day inspiring and enlightening for all in attendance.”
