(HEMPSTEAD, N.Y.) – On Thursday, March 12, New York State Governor Kathy Hochul announced that the Incorporated Village of Hempstead will receive $23 million in Environmental Bond Act funding for new sewer piping to replace an aged and undersized wastewater collection system.
Following this announcement, Nassau County Legislator Scott M. Davis (D – Rockville Centre) issued the following statement:
“In 2024, when I worked with then-Legislator Siela Bynoe to secure $1.75 million in American Rescue Plan Act funding from Nassau County to kickstart upgrades to Hempstead Village’s water treatment plant, we hoped those initial resources would open the door for additional aid for critical infrastructure improvements,” Nassau County Legislator Scott M. Davis (D – Rockville Centre) said. “The results continue to speak for themselves, and this latest influx of $23 million for Hempstead Village’s sewer infrastructure demonstrates the State’s commitment to protecting our drinking water and safeguarding public health without burdening the taxpayers of New York’s largest village. I am thankful to Governor Hochul and Senator Bynoe for their commitment to this vital work.”
