WHAT: Nassau County Legislature Alternate Deputy Minority Leader Debra Mulé (D – Freeport) is partnering with the Nassau County Department of Assessment to bring the Homeowner Exemption Liaison Program (HELP) to the Oceanside Library on Tuesday, July 14, the Freeport Memorial Library on Wednesday, July 15, and the Baldwin Public Library on Thursday, July 23 (in partnership with Legislator Scott M. Davis).
During HELP events, Department of Assessment staff provide homeowners with individual assistance with filing for veteran, senior citizen, Cold War veteran, volunteer firefighter and ambulance worker, and limited-income disability exemptions. Enhanced STAR applications will also be processed for homeowners already enrolled in the STAR program prior to Jan. 2, 2015.
All HELP sessions are from noon to 2 p.m. Participants are asked to arrive no later than one half-hour prior to the scheduled end time for the event, and to bring copies of their 2025 federal and state income tax returns and other required documentation for completing the application.
“Not only can the HELP program provide you the expert assistance to complete your applications, it will also give you the chance to submit your completed forms right after you finish them and right in your community,” Alternate Deputy Minority Leader Mulé said. “If you have questions about how to complete your applications, join us at one of our three workshops for hands-on assistance that will ensure you get every exemption that you qualify for.”
