Legislator Mulé Celebrates Grand Opening of Baldwin’s Book Nook

Mule - Book Nook

(BALDWIN, N.Y.) – Nassau County Legislature Alternate Deputy Minority Leader Debra Mulé (D – Freeport) proudly joined the Baldwin Chamber of Commerce and her colleagues in government in Baldwin on Wednesday, July 22 to celebrate the official grand opening of The Book Nook in Baldwin.

Upon its opening by husband-and-wife team Dr. Marlene Munn and Dr. Roberto Joseph, the shop became Long Island’s only Black-owned bookstore and the only independent bookstore currently operating in the Baldwin hamlet. Alternate Deputy Minority Leader Mulé presented the owners with a joint Nassau County Legislature Citation from herself and Legislator Scott M. Davis (D – Rockville Centre) in recognition of this important milestone.

“America’s bookstores are so much more than shops – they are beacons of literacy that shine a light on the beauty of the communities they serve,” Alternate Deputy Minority Leader Mulé said. “I look forward to visiting The Book Nook on many occasions in the future, and I thank Marlene and Roberto for pursuing this important venture right here in Baldwin!”
