(FREEPORT, N.Y.) – Nassau County Legislature Alternate Deputy Minority Leader Debra Mulé (D – Freeport) joined the community in celebrating Freeport resident and Jones Beach lifeguard Adam Nussen’s amazing feat of circumnavigating Long Island via prone paddling. He completed the 300-mile, 12-day nautical journey to raise funds for various marine and beach conservation organizations across Long Island.
Upon making landfall back in Freeport on Friday, June 5, Alternate Deputy Minority Leader Mulé presented him with a Nassau County Legislature Citation in recognition of this remarkable effort.
“As if Adam’s commitment to helping others wasn’t already evident through his work at Jones Beach, he simply outdid himself by prone paddling around the entirety of Long Island to raise money for deserving charities and increase awareness about the preservation of our precious waterways,” Alternate Deputy Minority Leader Mulé said. “It was such a thrill to join his friends and family as they welcomed him home – congratulations on a job well done and thank you to the Freeport Police and Fire Departments for providing a much-deserved escort to shore!”
