
(FREEPORT and ROOSEVELT, N.Y.) – Nassau County Legislature Alternate Deputy Minority Leader Debra Mulé (D – Freeport) proudly celebrated Black History Month with the NAACP Freeport-Roosevelt Branch on Saturday, Feb. 21. Presented in partnership with Choice for All, the event was spearheaded by the Freeport Roosevelt Youth and College Division and supported by Branch leadership. Honorees included:
- Dr. Emily Moore: Activist, educator & author
- Mr. Denton Watson: Activist, educator & author
- Mr. Frank Ables: Author, musician & educator
- Dr. Marie Hoanche: Nurse practitioner, veteran & author
- Mrs. Christine Washington: NAACP State Education Chair
- The Freeport-Roosevelt NAACP Youth Council for outstanding initiative and leadership
“Each year, the Freeport-Roosevelt NAACP’s Youth Council does such a wonderful job organizing the branch’s Black History Month celebration – and empowering our young people to take the lead creates outstanding opportunities to cultivate leadership skills that will serve them well throughout their lives,” Alternate Deputy Minority Leader Mulé said. “During Black History Month and all throughout the year, I am grateful for the Freeport-Roosevelt NAACP and their unwavering commitment to justice and equality for every American.”
