(FREEPORT, N.Y.) - To ensure every student has the essentials they need for a strong start to the 2026-27 school year, Nassau County Legislature Alternate Deputy Minority Leader Debra Mulé (D – Freeport) and Scott M. Davis (D – Rockville Centre) are teaming up with TRIMZ Barber Shop owner Leon Levar Broughton to host the 21st annual CUTZ FOR EDU back-to-school giveaway for Legislative District 1 and 6 students from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 22.
Backpacks and school supplies will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis. In addition, participants will have the opportunity to play games on a video game truck; enjoy music by DJ Sour, face painters, light refreshments and snacks, and receive free haircuts from TRIMZ Barber Shop, sneakers from Heeling Soles, school supplies and other essentials while supplies last. Additional attractions include an ice cream truck, cotton candy, a bouncy house, and more.

For more than two decades, CUTZ FOR EDU has equipped scores of local youngsters to confidently return to the school year. Its longevity and success is rooted in a longstanding partnership between Broughton and former Nassau County Legislature Minority Leader Kevan Abrahams, which has been continued by subsequent Legislators who have served Freeport and its neighboring communities.
