Legislator Mulé Secures $17K For Oceanside Fire Department

(UNIONDALE, N.Y.) - Nassau County Legislature Alternate Deputy Minority Leader Debra Mulé (D – Freeport) secured unanimous approval for a $17,260.85 Community Revitalization Project (CRP) grant for the Oceanside Fire Department – funds which will be applied toward the purchase of 10 sets of water personal protective equipment (PPE) for firefighters.

“Oceanside is a coastal waterfront community with seven miles of shoreline.  Due to this, the Oceanside Fire Department on occasion responds to water emergencies both offshore and also inland from urban flooding caused by storm surge,” said Oceanside FD Chief of Department Sean B. Lynch. “The funds secured by Legislator Mulé will allow us to purchase personal protective gear to be worn by Oceanside Firefighters in the performance of rescue duties at water emergencies.

“As someone who experienced the wrath of Superstorm Sandy firsthand as a Freeport resident, I know how important it is to equip our first responders with the tools they need to respond effectively to floods and other water emergencies,” Alternate Deputy Minority Leader Mulé said. “I thank my colleagues for unanimously approving this key funding for our first responders and appreciate my Democratic caucus colleagues for standing strongly in support of equitable funding for all Nassau County communities.”
