(OCEANSIDE, N.Y.) - Nassau County Legislature Alternate Deputy Minority Leader Debra Mulé (D – Freeport) presented a $17,260.85 Community Revitalization Project (CRP) grant to the Oceanside Fire Department on Wednesday, Aug. 5. The grant funds, which were approved by the Legislature on July 27, will be applied toward the purchase of 10 sets of water personal protective equipment (PPE) for firefighters.
“The men and women who step up each day to serve in the Oceanside Fire Department and protect their neighbors perform a tremendous service for us all, and I am committed to supporting their work in any way I can,” Alternate Deputy Minority Leader Mulé said. “I know these funds will go to tremendously good use, and I am grateful for the opportunity to equip our first responders with the resources they need to excel.”
“Oceanside is a coastal waterfront community with seven miles of shoreline. Due to this, the Oceanside Fire Department on occasion responds to water emergencies both offshore and also inland from urban flooding caused by storm surge,” said Oceanside FD Chief of Department Sean B. Lynch. “The funds secured by Legislator Mulé will allow us to purchase personal protective gear to be worn by Oceanside Firefighters in the performance of rescue duties at water emergencies."
