(ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y.) – Prior to the start of the Monday, May 19 meeting of the full Nassau County Legislature, Nassau County Legislator Scott M. Davis (D – Rockville Centre) congratulated the Nassau Detectives Association’s (DAI) May “Top Cops” for their outstanding police work. Nassau County Police Department (NCPD) First Squad Detective/Sergeant Michael Guerra, First Squad Detectives Michael Cerlini; Matthew Games; Robert Rizzi and Rockville Centre PD Detective Dominic Scicutella were instrumental in parlaying a forcible touching investigation into multiple arrests and the seizure of several illegal guns.
On Dec. 6, 2024, detectives were notified by Rockville Centre PD of a forcible touching case in which an 18-year-old male was accused of assaulting a juvenile female. A week after his arrest and the subsequent investigation, detectives expanded their focus to two accomplices, who were believed to be in possession of illegal firearms.
Thereafter, on Jan. 6, 2025, First Squad, Fugitive Squad and Rockville Centre detectives executed a search warrant and conducted numerous premises searches, which yielded the arrests of the two accomplices, four additional individuals. All told, NCPD and Rockville Centre detectives arrested seven people on a combined 33 criminal charges and got two guns off the street, including an untraceable “ghost gun”.
“This case started with the great detective work of the Rockville Centre Police Department, and it is a really good example of what goes into good and effective police work,” Legislator Davis said. “Because everyone worked so well together, there were really outstanding results, and I commend you all for everything you do to keep the public safe.”
