(HEMPSTEAD, N.Y.) – Nassau County Legislator Viviana L. Russell (D – Westbury) visited the Harris sisters' lemonade stand in Hempstead on Saturday, July 25, where she enjoyed both their original and strawberry lemonade, along with a jar of their delicious homemade strawberry jam.
The young entrepreneurs shared that they pick the strawberries themselves and make the jam by hand, with proceeds from their business helping to fund their future college education. The sisters will also be participating in the upcoming Young Entrepreneurs of Uniondale Showcase on Saturday, Aug. 8.
"I was so impressed by the Harris sisters' entrepreneurial spirit, hard work, and vision for their future," Legislator Russell said. "Not only do they create exceptional products, but they are using their business to invest in their education — a wonderful example of determination, goal-setting, and financial responsibility. Their motto says it all: 'We may have little hands, but we have BIG plans.' After tasting both the original and strawberry lemonade, as well as their homemade strawberry jam, I can honestly say they were all absolutely delicious. I wish these remarkable young ladies continued success and look forward to seeing them inspire others at the Young Entrepreneurs of Uniondale Showcase."
