(HEMPSTEAD, N.Y.) - Nassau County Legislator Scott M. Davis (D – Rockville Centre) joined hundreds of residents as they celebrated National Night Out at Denton Green in Hempstead Village on Tuesday, Aug. 4.
For more than four decades, National Night Out events have been held in thousands of communities each year on the first Tuesday in August to promote “police-community partnerships to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live.” National Night Out enhances relationships between law enforcement and communities by bringing police and residents together in a fun and welcoming atmosphere.
Organized by the Incorporated Village of Hempstead, the event was supported by an array of community organizations and sponsors, including fellow Legislators Viviana L. Russell (D – Westbury) and Olena Nicks (D – Uniondale), all of whom provided activities, giveaways, snacks and demonstrations for all ages.
“Thanks to the hard work of so many community partners, National Night Out is an evening where families from coast to coast have fun and meet the local law enforcement, first responders, and civic organizations that serve and strengthen our communities,” Legislator Davis said. “As someone who was raised in Hempstead Village, I am especially appreciative of Mayor Hobbs, the Hempstead Police Department, and all who contributed toward the success of this unifying summer tradition.”
