(BALDWIN, N.Y.) – Nassau County Legislature Alternate Deputy Minority Leader Debra Mulé (D – Freeport) joined members of the Nassau County Amateur Radio Club at Baldwin Park on Saturday, June 28 as they observed National Amateur Radio Field Day. Since 1933, ham radio operators across America have established temporary radio stations in public locations during Field Day to showcase amateur radio and how it allows people from all walks of life to experiment with electronics and communications techniques.
“This longstanding tradition offers a glimpse into the science and skill behind ham radio and gives clubs across North America a platform to showcase the important public service that can be provided through ham radio when disasters disrupt cell phone and internet service,” Alternate Deputy Minority leader Mulé said. “I was thrilled to spend some time with Nassau Amateur Radio Club and hear more about their deep passion for this important form of communication.”
