(BALDWIN, N.Y.) - Nassau County Legislature Alternate Deputy Minority Leader Debra Mulé (D - Freeport) joined Sanitary District No. 2 at their Baldwin garage on Saturday, Sept. 20 for its autumn Operation Shed-The-Meds, document shredding, and E-Cycling drop-off day.
During the event, which is presented with key support from the Town of Hempstead Employees Federal Credit Union, the Nassau County Police Department, the Baldwin Council Against Drug Abuse, and other local elected officials, residents of Baldwin, South Hempstead and Roosevelt within Sani 2’s service area had the opportunity to securely dispose unwanted prescription medication, electronic waste, and documents containing sensitive personal data.
“Each day, the men and women who work at Sani 2 do so much to keep neighborhoods sanitary, safe and secure – and their seasonal shed the meds and document/e-waste disposal days further amplify their service to the community,” Alternate Deputy Minority Leader Mulé said. “I was proud to once again co-sponsor this great event – one that gives the residents we serve a great way to start off the autumn with a clean slate and less clutter in their homes.”
“Ensuring the safe disposal of unwanted medications, sensitive documents, and e-waste makes Nassau County safer – and we all embrace and applaud Sani 2’s embrace of this vital mission,” Legislator Davis said. “I thank them for all they do on a daily basis to meet the needs of Baldwin, South Hempstead and Roosevelt residents.”
