(FREEPORT, N.Y.) – Nassau County Legislature Alternate Deputy Minority Leader Debra Mulé (D – Freeport) joined community members at the Freeport Memorial Library on Tuesday, Sept. 9 in welcoming award-winning comic book writer, screenwriter, and Freeport High School graduate Joe Kelly to the Freeport Memorial Library as part of their “In Conversation With” series.
Attendees had the opportunity to hear directly from Kelly, who is widely known for redefining Deadpool and writing the acclaimed Superman story “What’s So Funny About Truth, Justice, and the American Way?” about the evolution of his career and his work in comics and graphic novels.
“Freeport High School has a well-earned reputation for excellence in a wide spectrum of disciplines, and a number of its graduates have reached tremendous heights in their fields,” Alternate Deputy Minority Leader Mulé said. “Joe Kelly is a shining example of what is possible, and I thank him for returning to Freeport and sharing his story with the community.”
