(FREEPORT, N.Y.) – Nassau County Legislature Alternate Deputy Minority Leader Debra Mulé (D – Freeport) teamed up with Nassau County Legislator Seth I. Koslow (D – Merrick), New York State Senator Siela A. Bynoe, New York State Assemblywoman Judy Griffin, and Freeport Mayor Robert Kennedy to host a Community Volunteer Fair at the Freeport Recreation Center on Thursday, Sept. 18.
The event attracted more than a dozen local not-for-profit organizations, as well as government officials, creating a setting in which participants could explore service opportunities, and learn how they can make a positive impact in their community.
“As a social worker and an elected official, I have had a front-row view of the vital services that not-for-profit agencies provide – and the essential role volunteers play in delivering those resources to families in need,” Alternate Deputy Minority Leader Mulé said. “I am absolutely thrilled by the response to this inaugural event, and I look forward to building it into an annual tradition for Freeport and our region.”
“There is no more valuable lesson that we can teach our children than the important of giving back and paying it forward - and the success of Freeport’s inaugural volunteer fair beautifully embodies that message and those values,” Legislator Koslow said. “It was a pleasure to work with Alternate Deputy Minority Leader Mulé, our colleagues in government, and all of the wonderful not-for-profit organizations who do so much for local families.”
