(ROOSEVELT, N.Y.) – Nassau County Legislature Alternate Deputy Minority Leader Debra Mulé (D – Freeport) and Legislator Scott M. Davis (D – Rockville Centre) celebrated the long-awaited completion of Roosevelt’s Centennial Park during a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Monday, Aug. 11 – marking the completion of a multimillion-dollar investment that was spearheaded and shepherded to completion by the Legislature’s Democratic Minority delegation.

Amenities at the fully renovated park include a miniature turf soccer pitch; renovated handball, tennis and basketball courts; a rebuilt playground with three age- specific play areas; a state-of-the-art splash pad spray park; a walking path with exercise stations; shading structures; a picnic area; video surveillance equipment; new vinyl fencing; a viewing area with bleachers; energy-efficient lighting; and more.

Sidewalks around the perimeter of the park and pathways within the park were replaced as part of the project, and the administration building was improved and overhauled to make it an additional park entrance point.

$9.3 million in capital plan bond authorization was secured for the project by former Nassau County Legislature Minority Leader Kevan Abrahams. Since becoming the representative of the reapportioned District 6 – which includes the entirety of Roosevelt –Alternate Deputy Minority Leader Mulé has fought for the project’s completion since 2024.

“This multimillion-dollar investment will enrich the lives of local families for generations, and I am overjoyed to celebrate this milestone with the Roosevelt community,” Alternate Deputy Minority Leader Mulé said. “I thank former Minority Leader Kevan Abrahams for his leadership and tireless efforts to make the community’s vision for a beautiful, state-of-the-art Centennial Park a reality.”

“The amenities contained within Centennial Park will create tremendous new opportunities for organized sports leagues to mentor our youth and teach them the lessons and values that will serve them well for a lifetime,” Legislator Davis said. “I am thrilled that this cutting-edge, multifaceted community hub is now complete, and I applaud Kevan for championing the community’s vision and Debra for her commitment to completing a transformational project that will touch countless lives.”
