(FREEPORT, N.Y.) - Nassau County Legislature Alternate Deputy Minority Leader Debra Mulé (D - Freeport) and Legislator Seth I. Koslow (D – Merrick) partnered with the Nassau County Department of Assessment to bring the Homeowner Exemption Liaison Program (HELP) to the Freeport Memorial Library on Tuesday, July 22, delivering personalized service to homeowners seeking assistance with completing and filing their tax exemptions.
During the event, Department of Assessment staff provided one-on-one assistance with filing for veteran, senior citizen, Cold War veteran, volunteer firefighter and ambulance worker, and limited-income disability exemptions. Enhanced STAR applications were also processed for homeowners already enrolled in the STAR program prior to Jan. 2, 2015.
“H.E.L.P. workshops equip homeowners to advocate for themselves so that they pay only their fair share of taxes,” Alternate Deputy Minority Leader Mulé said. “I am always grateful for initiatives that make Nassau more affordable for our families – thank you to John McQuade and his team for making it convenient and easy for Freeport residents to file their applications!”
“It is always great to see so many property owners from the Freeport area taking advantage of a program that puts money back into their pockets and ensures they are not paying one penny more in taxes than they owe,” Legislator Koslow said. “Thank you to John McQuade and everyone at the Department of Assessment for their professionalism and assistance with this vital program.”
