WHAT – Nassau County Legislature Alternate Deputy Minority Leader Debra Mulé (D – Freeport) presents “Know Before You Vote” – a seminar series focused on informing Nassau County voters about the new parameters of the legislative district lines being utilized in the 2025 election.
Seminars are scheduled for 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 3 at the Baldwin Public Library; 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 13 at the Roosevelt Public Library; and 6:30 – 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 22 at the Freeport Memorial Library.
The new maps for the 2025 election the result of legal action brought by community advocates and civil liberties organizations who alleged previous maps were an unlawful gerrymander that diluted the power of Black, Latino and Asian communities. The resulting settlement created six majority-minority districts in which the population is comprised of at least 50 percent underrepresented voting groups; and a seventh district with a nearly 30 percent population of Asian American voters. These maps will be in effect through 2032.
“With election day fast approaching in Nassau County, I am committed to doing everything within my power to ensure that the communities I serve have clarity about the new district lines being used in this election,” Alternate Deputy Minority Leader Mulé said. “I invite anyone who wants to learn more about this redistricting process to join us at one of these seminars and get answers to your questions before casting your ballot.”
