(ROOSEVELT, N.Y.) – Nassau County Legislature Alternate Deputy Minority Leader Debra Mulé (D – Freeport) joined Superintendent Dr. Shawn Wightman, the Roosevelt school community, and her colleagues in government on Wednesday, Aug. 27 to kick off the 2025-26 school year at the Superintendent’s Conference Day. In addition to the Superintendent’s vision for the year ahead, the program featured the talents of Roosevelt students and recognition for the district’s dedicated staff, including Dr. Barbara Solomon, who recently retired after over 30 years of dedicated work in the Roosevelt School District.
“This year’s theme, “Together, We Transform!”, was exemplified beautifully through a program that included performances from Roosevelt High School and Washington Rose Elementary students,” Alternate Deputy Minority Leader Mulé said. “Dr. Wightman’s presentation set an uplifting and unifying tone for the school year, and I wish Roosevelt’s students, families and staff all the best in this new school year!”
