(BALDWIN, N.Y.) – Nassau County Legislature Alternate Deputy Minority Leader Debra Mulé (D – Freeport) joined members of AARP, Vision Long Island Executive Director Eric Alexander, and local Baldwin community leaders for a Merrick Road “walking audit” on Monday, Sept. 15. Walking audits include a review of sidewalks, street crossings, public transit access, and more.
“Through their Walking Audit program, AARP is providing communities here in Nassau County and across America with easy access to best practices that they can apply toward making their communities safer and more appealing – both of which are key drivers of the economic revitalization Baldwin is actively pursuing,” Alternate Deputy Minority Leader Mulé said. “Traffic safety for motorists and pedestrians alike remains one of my top priorities throughout the Sixth District, and this review of Merrick Road was an eye-opening experience that showed us just how much work we have left to do in order to improve pedestrian safety in the heart of Baldwin.”
