(HEMPSTEAD, N.Y.) - Nassau County Legislator Scott M. Davis (D – Rockville Centre) partnered with New York State Senator Siela A. Bynoe, NYS Assemblymember Noah Burroughs, and Legislators Olena Nicks (D – Uniondale) and Viviana L. Russell (D – Westbury), the New York State Department of Labor and Hempstead Works to host a “Fresh Start” Job Fair at Hempstead Village’s Kennedy Memorial Park on Thursday, Sept. 3.
Open to all career seekers, the job fair was geared toward providing resources to people who are seeking new beginnings after involvement in the justice system. The event drew more than 100 job seekers who had the opportunity to peruse diversified employment opportunities from more than 25 companies, as well as professional development resources aimed at fostering success in the workplace.
“When life presents us with a crossroads, having the support you need to succeed can be just as important as making the decision to embark upon a positive new chapter – and that is why events like this Fresh Start job fair are such meaningful occasions,” Legislator Davis said. “I am deeply thankful to our partners in government, Hempstead Works, the Department of Labor and all of the employers for working with us to create a forum where our neighbors can connect with opportunities to improve their lives for the long term.”
