(BALDWIN, N.Y.) - Nassau County Legislator Scott M. Davis (D – Rockville Centre) joined Brookside Elementary School students, school officials and colleagues in government on Thursday, Sept. 10 to present a $150,000 Community Revitalization Project (CRP) grant to the Baldwin Union Free School District.
The funds, which were approved by the full Nassau County Legislature on July 27, will be applied toward installing a new, fully accessible playground at the Brookside Elementary School, which will include age-appropriate climbing structures, slides, interactive play features, shaded seating and gathering areas, and more. Legislator Davis was joined by New York State Assemblywoman Judy Griffin and Nassau Legislature Alternate Deputy Minority Leader Debra Mulé (D – Freeport) for the presentation.
“Not only will modernizing the playground at Brookside Elementary provide Baldwin students with safe and invigorating places to play, explore and interact, it will re-establish this as a place where the entire community can gather and bond as neighbors,” Legislator Davis said. “Seeing the smiles on so many young faces makes all of the hard work truly worth it, and it gives me every assurance that these funds will go a long way toward making a positive impact that will be felt all across Baldwin.”
