WHAT – Nassau County Legislator Scott M. Davis (D – Rockville Centre) will join forces with the Family & Children’s Association to host a scam prevention workshop at the Rockville Centre Public Library on Wednesday, Sept. 16.
During the event, experts will provide community members with valuable guidance for protecting themselves from becoming victims of criminals who seek to exploit them. Topics will include an exploration of what financial abuse and exploitation is; who is targeted and why; ways financial abuse and exploitation occur; scams to be aware of; red flags for signs of financial abuse; ways to protect yourself; and what to do if you have been victimized by a scammer.
“Each of us has a role to play in protecting ourselves, our loved ones, and our community from predatory scam artists, and the workshop we are bringing to the Rockville Centre Public Library is designed to cultivate the level of vigilance, awareness, and education needed to stop them in their tracks,” Legislator Davis said. “I am proud to be partnering with the Family & Children’s Association and the Rockville Centre Library to present this vital information to our community on Sept. 16.”
