(UNIONDALE, N.Y.) – Nassau County Legislature Alternate Deputy Minority Leader Debra Mulé (D – Freeport) joined the Nassau Community College community on Tuesday, April 29 to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Nassau: Empowerment and Support for Tomorrow (the NEST).
The NEST is focused on promoting health and wellness by maintaining a free-choice pantry that provides food, personal care items, and support services to students, employees, and families in need. Their philanthropic efforts are supported by the College community, Long Island Cares and Island Harvest, corporate donors, civic and religious organizations, and more.
Late last year, Alternate Deputy Minority Leader Mulé secured a $10,000 American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) grant in support of the 501 (c)3 not-for-profit organization’s philanthropic mission.
“Throughout the last decade, Sharon Masrour and her entire team have emphasized the principle of compassion and the dignity of every person they serve at Nassau Community College – and the results have made the NEST a respected and valued part of the campus community,” Alternate Deputy Minority Leader Mulé said. “Thank you for all that your organization does – I am proud to support you in your vital mission!”
